Melbourne-Tasmania 2017 Part V

DAY SIX

Had great croissants prepared by the host for our breakfast :D After breakfast we headed straight into the Freycinet National Park! Got a day pass for our car at AUD24, which gives us access to the park for 24 hours.

Started the hike to Wineglass Bay!

This silly boy was wearing layers of clothing with a thick jacket in his hand. HAHAHA, thank goodness I made him wear a T-shirt so he could eventually remove those layers, because hiking isn't as cooling as it seems! :p

Didn't take us too long to get to the Wineglass Bay lookout!

Then, we were headed for Wineglass Bay itself. That's the tough part!! Getting down steep slopes and  sandy rocks means high tendency of slipping. Gotta really focus on every step..

Only managed a photo at the non-steep parts of our journey down to Wineglass Bay.

Passed by a mystical-looking forest..

Then here we are!!! Such a beautiful beach :)

It was so relaxing just sitting by the beach on our picnic mat and taking in all the lovely sights. :*

And guess what, we walked the entire Wineglass Bay and back!! That's probably 4km along the beach itself. HAHAHA. Achievement unlocked.

I initially thought that there would be another trail back when we reached the other end of Wineglass Bay, apparently that would take us another few hours detour before we get back to where we came from. That's why we decided to walk back so that we don't spend our day getting trapped in the mountain.

Going back uphill was even tougher than when we came down. But we pushed through and made our way back up and out since we were motivated to get some oysters from Freycinet Marine Farm!

Looks so luxurious - a dozen of oysters with sweet white wine. :) Heheh but frankly speaking the oysters weren't the best we've eaten before.

From FMF, we took a 30 minutes drive up north towards Friendly Beaches, where we stopped for maybe 5 minutes and decided to head back :B oops.

Went to Cape Tourville lookout!

Whale sighting spot! Except we caught no whales on the binoculars.

Then our hunger brought us back to Coles Bay Village for dinner.

Aimed to try Tombolo for our final day dinner at Coles Bay. And we did! Reached earlier before dinner serving, we had to loiter for 45 minutes or so. Went to pump petrol (WAH very expensive, but we had no choice because otherwise we don't have enough fuel to last till we get to the next kiosk while we make our way back into Hobart tomorrow).

Then we found a mini bay of fires near our dinner venue.

Took the chance to snap more photos :)

Shortly after that we went back to Tombolo for dinner:

We shared a pizza & fish n chips. Pizza was much nicer! :p Also order a hot chocolate which was by far the most disappointing hot chocolate I've tasted, so I didn't bother with the photo here. lolol.

On our way back, our driver got 'lost'. R claimed that he brought me to a perfect spot for sunset. Well, I agree. The sunset was so beautiful.

Everyday ended beautifully on this trip.

DAY SEVEN

It was the day we bid farewell to Coles Bay, and Tasmania. :( When we got up in the morning, I asked R to walk to Sandpiper's beach together, which was pretty near to where we stayed.

It was one of my personal favourite moments on the trip, just us holding hands walking to the beach together. Town was all quiet because it was still early. Sea looked especially tranquil.

But we didn't walk the beach because of DANGER DANGER. lolol.

Still perfect. Perfectly still.

Our bed hairs because haven't showered for the day.

💝

After our once again lovely croissant breakfast and packing, we left the apartment, and started our road trip towards Hobart. Stopped by Kate's Berry Farm along the way!

Ended off our breakfast on a sweet note with pancakes and jam with a scoop of ice cream.

We stopped by along some beach but I can't recall what it's called... [Edit: R reminded me that it was Spikey Beach. Clearly not an apt name because I no see spikes.]

Kaylee is usually camera shy, but this time round she caved in and took some shots.

After that, we got ambitious and drove straight back to Hobart City to get one last Fish Frenzy, then detour back towards the airport :p Because of this greediness, time was almost running out! We had to return our car at 2pm. HAHA.

Thank goodness we reached back on time, in fact, 15 minutes earlier. Together with our fish n chips! Yay.

But when we got to the airport, we were given a horrible piece of news that immediately dampened our mood :( thankfully eventually everything was settled and we could smile again. Decided not to elaborate too much since it overall did not affect how much we both enjoyed Tasmania and the special meaning the place holds for us. 😊 Enjoyed our fish n chips and Korean shows before our flight back to Melbourne!
