Melbourne-Tasmania 2017 Part III

DAY FOUR

Woke up bright and early (as usual) on a Sunday morning! Headed to Woolsworth to load up on more bottles of mineral water in preparation for our road trip along the east coast the next day. I suppose we got way too ambitious buying a grand total of 21 litres of water to last us for around 4 full days we had in Tasmania. Wounded up having extra 4.5 litres at the end of our Tassie trip but thank goodness we found owners for those liquids :p

So after our supermarket trip, we went to another market! This time round it's their Sunday Farm Gate Market which is more localised and smaller scale. We enjoyed it very much nonetheless!

Lamb burger for breakfast.

Being Singaporeans, we joined in the queue for a cuppa popular coffee - In my opinion, this felt like the best coffee we had the entire trip, :)

Then off we head out of the city area, to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary!! It was just a 30 minutes drive from the city to Bonorong, located at Brighton, Tasmania (seems like we keep going towards brighton lolol).

Mr driver :D

And yay we have arrived! Bright and sunny day :)

Me and my new friend. HAHAHAHA. It was such an exhilarating experience trying to feed these kangaroos because I was so nervous and worried. They all looked doopey and zombie-ish (plus they hop in the same way as zombies), as though they would pounce on you for food. So I made sure I found a kangaroo that was manageable in size (some are really huge) and then got R to quickly snap the photos as a proof that I'm in Australia lolol #achievementunlocked #fedakangaroo #pretendedwewerefriends.

Sleeping fat koala!!!

R continued to feed different kangaroos like a boss. I gave him the rest of the kangaroo feed which I couldn't finish giving out.

Then we joined in the free guided tour where we learnt about how the sanctuary started, its vision, and many many interesting facts about the animals they have in the sanctuary. Even got the chance to touch some of them! E.g this chubby wombat that instantly fell asleep lying in the arms of the staff.

And how fierce a Tasmanian devil can get.

Highlight of the day!! Photo opportunity up close with koala who posed for me!!!

Such a perfect way to end our time at the sanctuary and we both agreed that it was a really meaningful time spent :)

Strawberry snack time!! Got these from the Salamanca Market the day before teehee. After we juiced up, we made our way towards Richmond!!

One of the key landmarks - Richmond Bridge! It was really a picture perfect picnic spot, except that we didn't have any picnic food. Anyway, it was quite relaxing and chill, looking at kids rolling and frolicking on the grass, and watching birds chomping down a chicken drumstick...

Then we made our way into the Richmond village area & went into Czeg's Cafe. We ordered a bowl of seafood chowder which had everything nice in it. It was very comforting and a good change to the usual dry/fried things we've been eating. Slurps.

We managed to see some alpacas along our way at an event they were holding!!

Tried a curry scallop pie at Richmond Bakery Cafe and finished it in no time :)

On our way back, we stopped by at a winery to check out what they had to offer. But nope, didn't do any wine tasting (R stands for Responsible driver) and didn't get any wine.

Pit stop at Rosny Hill! Good view looking across into the city from the other side.

Here's R and our trusty Koleos which made us very happy in our time at Tassie.

After this pit stop, we made a decision to make a detour back towards Budget centre at the airport because our maps and bluetooth sound system seemed to be malfunctioning. Our spotify just couldn't be connected too :( Unfortunately the centre at Hobart City had already closed by then (Sunday late afternoon). And we wanted to make sure that our maps would work for our road trip the very next day. Thankfully a great chap knew exactly what was wrong and helped us fixed our problem. That made us very happy and felt like our detour was worth it.

Back to our airbnb for a short rest, put down our stuff, then we headed out for dinner! At a local pub recommended by our host :) When we first stepped into the pub, I was a bit skeptical and worried because I felt quite out of place in that rather small space. Everyone was chattering, laughing, or dancing with each other, with a band playing in the background. We didn't quite know where we should sit. Eventually we felt more comfortable with our surrounding, with friendly strangers smiling and acknowledging our presence. Also found ourselves a space at the bar counter, then we proceeded to place our orders after selecting from the menu choices scribbled on the blackboard. Got ourselves beer too because R didn't drive that night.

Here's what we chose! Mushroom risotto and Chicken Parmis! It was really comforting food, and this dinner was really affordable as compared to the prices in typical restaurants! We both felt so satisfied after dinner :) Strolled back to our airbnb after that (& got slightly lost on our way).

I remember that night we went outside of our room's balcony and the skies were clearer (as compared to the night before), so we could see the sky filled with stars :') couldn't capture them in photograph but that moment was truly memorable ***
