Melbourne-Tasmania 2017 Part IV ft. We're Engaged!

DAY FIVE

It was the day for our road trip along East Coast! Bid farewell to our airbnb early in the morning feeling all pumped up for the day! So the plan was to drive up north all the way from Hobart to Bay of Fires, before returning to Coles Bay in the evening - our accommodation for the next 2 days! Here we gooooo

I got hungry along the way in the car since it was past my usual breakfast time :p Thank goodness we had some snacks (wafer biscuits and lots of gummies) to last me for a bit before we reached our first pit stop!!

OOMPH! @ Orford

Shared a hearty breakfast at 9 plus :) Bellies satisfied & we were ready to explore the area!

It was a beautiful day, blue skies, white clouds, calm waters, sandy beaches.

Then we noticed like a lot of grassy/pebbly things near the shore. When we went closer, we saw thousands and thousands of mini craboos! HAHAHA

It was very actually fascinating and it looked even more fun on videos that we had taken. At one point there were so many of them that we had to find a good way to exit the beach without killing them.

Ok kind of scary.

Then it was time for us to make a move to our next pit stop! We had so much to cover and our day was short (day darkens at around 6pm then), so gotta nudge ourselves to move it move it.

Besides the depressing number of road kills we saw, sheep, horses, cows were other common sights along our drive.

We stopped by at a random look out area at this point! So here's why we thoroughly enjoyed the road trip, because it's so flexible, free-and-easy, and up to us (actually up to the driver hor) where we want to stop.

Then we drove in to a small beach at Swansea! Saw some ducklings at the entrance & it seemed like a quaint little town.

Then we moved on :)

Drove past Devil's Corner and decided to do a stopover! One of the places that we read about when we did our online searches + our host for the next 2 nights also recommended. We weren't hungry yet so we just walked around to check out what's there. They have a lookout area! We also took the chance to seek some advice @ one of those tourist information booth on where to stopover at Bicheno, the next place that we were heading to!

From Devil Corner's Lookout: Beautiful sight of vineyards, sea, and mountains. :')

Then another lap of drive towards Bicheno!

First stop at Bicheno - to see the blowhole! Gotta time our shutter well to snap the splash!

Followed by all the orange lichen rocks.

By this time it was already 12 plus, which means time for lunch!! :D

We went to this place called The Gulch - hands down the best fish n chips everrrrr. Our lunch venue was so scenic, just look at how clear the waters are:

*heart eyed*

Just a very humble eatery along the roads, nothing fancy, everything au natural and outdoors.

Here's our fish n chips, with add-ons calamari. IN LOVE. I know this doesn't look like the most appetising dish but it was lovely. :*

Even the seagulls watching us eat are so photogenic.

& this was the mesmerising view I saw when I came out of the toilet. Win.

Ok so anyway after our slow and relaxing lunch we realised we really got to speed up because it was already 1 plus! It was at least a 1.5 hours drive before we can reach Binalong Bay - Bay of Fires. And then we would need another 2 hours drive back to Coles Bay - we were targeting to reach back before sky darkens. So time was tight!

Along the way we saw rather extensive bush fires. Was initially worried that we might have to turn back and abolish our idea of getting to Bay of Fires! Thankfully that didn't happen and we arrived at our destination safely.

We didn't quite know which part of binalong bay to stop at since it's a whole long stretch. Eventually I made the decision to stop at this particular one because I thought aiyah all look around the same! No time to lose :B

There were many rocks there and while they looked big and sturdy, there were substantial gaps between those rocks (those stacked one above the other). But R kept requesting to jump up some rocks and get to a part which was more elevated. I was initially hesitant because I thought take photos at the lower part also ok right! But R asked another time, so I thought that maybe he wanted to go higher spot to take his panoramic photo. In the end I agreed and hopped up those seemingly dangerous boulders.

Yes, here we are.

Totally didn't expect it to turn out as a special spot for both of us because suddenly, R asked me a string of questions along the lines of 'Y'know when we first went out together we went to a beach. And this is a beach right (of which I answered no, but nvm). I have a question to ask you...'

When I first heard all these rattling on, I sincerely thought he was trying to pretend that he's proposing. Just because he totally said all these in quite a joking/half-giggling/laughing tone.

TURNED OUT TO BE REAL.

simi...

I had a hard time reacting because I didn't think that he would be proposing there and then, even though I know he will be proposing someday. :P

I said yes and yay scored a diamond star 💫 even before the night came :D

💖💖💖💖 Happily engaged 💖💖💖💖

And then we lived happily ever after...

HAHA no lah. Need to drive back to Coles Bay.

Managed to arrive at our Coles Bay apartment just before last light!! We loved the place we stayed at, very neat, and had everything guests would look for (think netflix, good selection of breakfast food etc). Our host recommended us to Tavern at Coles Bay village area for dinner & helped us reserve a table.

Made a short drive out in the dark, thank goodness it wasn't too far away!

Had my pasta craving satisfied, while R had some ribs.

Then back to the apartment to relax and enjoy after a long day out!
