Wassup to all our loyal readers (pretty sure it is just v and I)!! Have been on a long hiatus since the last post due to the massive preparation work required to perfectly execute the proposal plan for my beloved V, then girlfriend and now fiancee. Ok guys, stop rolling your eyes I know I know, it's not possible that I've been planning for the proposal from 2014 (my last entry I believe).. I admit that I have been lazy in updating the blog :p But of course, it has been my plan all this time while dating my dear V to "put the ring on it" (as Byonce preaches), and it occurred to me that this trip to Tasmania would be the best time to do so!
The entire plan was carried out in TOP SECRET as I have heard of many cases of proposal overseas where the gfs found out the plan even before the couple had flown out of Singapore. By limiting the amount of ppl who knows my plan, it would naturally limit the leakage to V! True enough, she was surprised when I took a knee and said the words.
While brainstorming for the ideal location to propose, I traced back to the past 4 years of our relationships and remembered how the both of us first held each other's hands and got together on the beach in ECP. Ding Ding! So came the idea of proposing at the beach. But then again, there are countless beaches in Tasmania!! I have absolutely no idea which beach would be the perfect location to pop the question.
Beach 1 in Orford:
Having done some research on the beaches in Tasmania, I thought that we would be able to find ourselves more beautiful beaches in our next few pit stops on our way to Bay of Fires. Decided not to select this beach since we are way too early on our road trip despite it being a beautiful beach nonetheless.
Also, we encountered plenty of wild crabbies on the beach that would 100% pinch me if I disturbed their morning. Quick throw some pokeballs!!
Beach 2 - Rocky Hill
We planned a total of 4 pit stops on our ambitious drive from Orford to Bay of Fires: Orford, Swansea, Bicheno and finally Binalong Bay. Of course, as meticulous as I was, I had made some virtual recce on the wonderful beaches along the east coast. Rocky hill, though not one of our pit stops, had popped up in my search.

Amazing view, clean sandy beach with no one on the beach = privacy. PERFECT. The only problem was that to get to the beach, we will have to abseil our way down a vertical cliff. Oh wells, just take photo and continue to the next stop.
Beach 3 - Swansea
By the time we reached Swansea, I started to panic. Things started to get real as we are halfway through our day trip. I AM REALLY GOING TO PROPOSE TODAY. Oh btw if you are wondering how I hide the ring throughout the trip, my smart sister had advised me to place the ring into some small pouch and away from V's sight. So to be EXTRA safe, I hide the ring box into a pair of socks (new and unworn before of course) and then into a pouch. Also picked my trusty crumpler bag for the trip because there are many small compartments to hide stuff :p
Things started to feel real because during our pit stop in Orford, I had transferred the ring from my bag into my jacket. With the ring on my body, my mind kept thinking about it and rehearsing my mini speech in my mind.
Me with my nervous smile, thinking if this beach is ideal..
While V was blissfully unaware of what will hit her at the end of the day. Obviously enjoying her road trip happily..
Honestly, the beach looked stunning in my opinion and I was ready to pop to question. As I observed V happily shuttering the camera away, I asked her: "Isn't this beach beautiful? Is this the type of beach you pictured yourself seeing in Tassie?" With with she gave a "nah" answer and told me that she had pictured the beach to have white sandy beach with clear blue ocean. OK GOT IT. Next beach then. HAHAHA. Thankfully I checked in with her if she had liked the location.
Beach 4 - Bicheno
As we moved on to our next pit stop, I realised that there was not much time left as the sun will set around 6pm. OMG. Thankfully, our final destination - Bay of Fires had been my original location for the proposal. I wanted to be flexible and thought that if we discovered any nicer beach along the way, I could pop the question too. Well since time was running out, there was no time to head to any more random beaches. Set my mind to do it in Bay of Fires and had to made sure we reach there before the sun sets.
Quick pit stop for the Bicheno blow hole! Need skills to take photo of the splash.
Stopped over for the best fish and chips of my life. Can I have it again!! Finished the meal and off we go to our final destination!
Final beach - Bay of Fires
And here we are! Finally at the Binalong bay.. I had spotted a pearl white beach that looked stunning. However, our time watching V reminded us that time was running out and we should look for a good location with big orangey rocks instead. Despite my pleas to stop over at the beach, V insisted us to move on. Besides, she said that the beach were made up of pebbles and not sand hence it not worth going hahaha.
Here we are!! Orangey rocks! Photos doesn't do much justice to the place, please head down to check the place out. While busy taking photos, I was looking for the perfect spot to propose. I noticed that beyond several pieces of rocks, we were able to get closer to the ocean and away from the crowd on the bay. Made the decision to go over and told V that we should head there for better "photo angle". She was initially reluctant as it looked too adventurous to climb over several pieces of rocks. After some persuading, she agreed and took the "leap of faith" hoping to get better photos XD
Once we headed over, I gave V some time to take photos as I prepare myself for the moment. I started to get into the topic by reminding her how our first date was by the beach, and linking to our current location - also a beach. Was quickly reminded by V that this was not a beach since there was no sand. Convo breaker! She obviously didn't know that I was proposing to her. I made some quick turnaround by saying that its the same as both were along the sea/ocean. Then told her that I brought her here for a special reason and knelt on my knee to ask her the question: "will you marry me?" After much shock and drama, of course she agreed. YAYY MISSION COMPLETE.
And we lived happily after!! 6 hours drive from Orford to Binalong bay followed by another 2 hours drive to our B&B in Coles Bay for the next two nights!
